Male and female will compete in seperate divisions.

Each taolu competitor will compete in two or three events (one bare-hand routine, one short weapon routine, and one long weapon routine).

The best two events' scores will be used to rank the competitor in the final outcome.

Male and female competitors will be ranked seperately.

For group A, 3 boys and 3 girls will be selected. For group B, 2 boys and 2 girls will be selected.

These winners will bear the winning titles of the Western Canadian Junior Wushu Championship.

The selected 6 group A and 4 group B Western Canadian winners will be rated against the 6 group A and 4 group B winners from Eastern Canada based on the video recording of this competition and the corresponding competition from Eastern Canada, by a panel of judges.

From there, 3 boys and 3 girls in group A, 2 boys and 2 girls in group B, will be selected as the Canadian Junior Wushu Team, and will represent Canada in the 1st World Junior Wushu Championship in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from August 19 to 26, 2006.

Sanshou will only be available to group A competitors (born in 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991).

Sanshou competitors should register as soon as possible so that the host organization can determine if matches will required for each of the 12 divisions.

The winners of the each division in the tournament will awarded winning titles of the Canadian Junior Wushu Championship.

Each country can only send 5 junior male competitors (from 5 different divisions among the 8 male divisions) and  3 junior female competitors (from 3 different divisions among the 4 female divisions) as sanshou competitors in its junior national team, the technical committee and CCWO will make the selection from the winning competitors from all the divisions.

Five males and three females will represent Canada in the 1st World Junior Wushu Championship in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from August 19 to 26, 2006.

Weigh-in for Jr. Sanshou athletes will be conducted at the Edmonton Garrison Fitness Facility from 6:00pm - 7:00pm on May 5, 2006, in Edmonton.

The sanshou rules conducted during this team selection will be based on the 1st WJWC rules slightly modified to improve the safety of the competitors. Specifically, the centre referee will be enpowered to terminate the match when one competitor is dominating over the other competitor significantly and continuation of the match can result in knock out or injury.
 
The number of rounds in a bout and/or the duration of a round may be shorten for this team selection.
 
Competitors are allowed to wear shin guards (soft padded only) to minimize injuries.
 
Competitors must wear unified color T-shirts and trunks (either Black or Red).
 
 
The organizer of this tournament reserve the right to make the final intepretation of the rules for this competition.
